Calcium-based stone like marble, onyx and travertine etch and stain very easily, sometimes faster than they can be wiped away. No liquid sealer can prevent this issue. TuffSkin provides complete etch and stain protection.

 TuffSkin (TS)  is a proprietary stone laminate similar to a cell phone screen protector on a large scale. It is not a liquid. It is a 4mil polyester film manufactured in a roll form. TS allows stone to breath out while keeping liquids from touching the stone. A resilient scratch-resistant top coat improves product longevity from harsh abrasion.

 TuffSkin (TS)  protects against scratching, chipping and stun marks. Although the TS laminate could be damaged, your stone will not. We do recommend the use of cutting boards, placemats & trivets just as you would with natural stone. Should your tops become scratched, TS can be removed and replaced.

 TuffSkin is chemical resistant. There are no household chemicals that can harm the coating.

Yes,  TuffSkin  can take the heat and stay in the kitchen. In the bathroom, blow dryers and curling irons do not affect TS. The protective barrier can easily withstand heat up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Depending on use, for instance, our hospitality customers see about 6-10 years before needing to replace the coating. Bars and restaurants replace approximately 1-4 years and residential customers normally enjoy their TuffSkin for approximately 3-5 years. This will truly depend upon heavy traffic and how perfect you would like the area to appear.

We recommend using any non-abrasive glass or stone cleaner wiping away with a microfiber towel to buff to a perfect shine.

TuffSkin and the installation process are both environmentally safe and have no smells or VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds).

Maximum bond time is 72 hours, but countertops can be can be used within two hours after application.

Gloss and Satin are the two available finishes. Gloss compliments polished stone while Satin appears best on honed stone.

TuffSkin never peels on its own. TS can be peeled back with some effort by humans. We have seen this in bars, especially gaming bars. These types of installations require monthly review by staff. We see no peeling issues in homes or hotel rooms. TuffSkin is a protective sacrificial barrier protecting your precious surfaces.

TuffSkin is quoted per job which includes product, application and warranty. Prices depend on surface size, quantities, waste factors and work conditions. TuffSkin is always the least expensive way to keep stone looking great daily.
